Yes I've called these 'fries' because let's face it the Americans do the Cheesy Fries so well!!

Had this with steak and salad tonight for dinner and just think it could have been just boring steak, chips and salad but with the addition of the toppings the 'fries' was a meal in itself!!

Ingredients
Frozen Potato chips
grated cheese
garlic powder
crispy bacon pieces
spring onions, sliced
sour cream

Oven bake frozen potato chips until cooked.

Layer on a baking tray and sprinkle with grated cheese and grill until melted.

Top with garlic powder, sour cream, bacon pieces and spring onions.

½ cup peanut butter (smooth or crunchy)
1/3 tsp garlic powder, onion powder, turmeric and ground ginger
¼ tsp curry powder (I use Keen’s)
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce and soy sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
2 TBSP sweet chilli sauce
½ can of coconut milk
¼ cup chicken stock

Combine all together and either throw in a pan with diced cooked chicken until thick or heat up on It’s own and use as dipping sauce for chicken kebabs with pineapple on a stick!

Coconut Rice
1.5 Cups basmati rice
1 and 1/4 cups water
1 cup coconut milk
2 star anise
Combine rice and a tiny bit of oil in a pan on low/medium heat. Add water, coconut milk and star anise, stir and cover and simmer on low for 10-12 mins until all liquid is gone, turn off heat and leave covered for 30 mins.

*When I cook rice this way I use 1.5 cups of water to every 1 cup of rice.

Decided to head on out to Crown Perth today, a lovely Friday with my Hubby to have a few bets at the Casino and have lunch at The Merrywell.

We've dined here before and love the casual vibe and American style menu. The Merrywell won WA's Best Steak Sandwich Competition in 2013!! I wish I could have eaten one of these but the portion sizes are very generous and I think I would have had to be carried out after one of these and a beer or 2!

My husband stuck to his usual 'Really a Reuben' Burger, with salty pastrami, sauerkraut, swiss cheese and a nice dressing, served with potato crisps. What really makes it special for him is that we can order the El Pacifico Clara Mexican beer ($10.50) that we can't find ANYWERE else in Perth....only Rockpool and The Merrywell. If anyone can help us find this particular beer in Perth that'd be so helpful!!

We had the 'Jalapeno Pepper Corn Dogs' for starters, and they reminded me of a Dagwood dog you get from the Royal Show but so much tastier. The corn batter was crispy, tasty and I ended up eating more then I expected.

Finally my mains, which was the 'Meryywell Macho Nachos', they had 2 options Angus beef or BBQ pulled pork, so I chose the latter and as I said before the portion size was great value! I left half on the plate.

We will definitely be back to The Merrywell very soon, very keen to try the Alaskan King Crab on the Dinner menu and have a few drinks from the huge variety on tap.

Also, next month they will be launching a Food Truck bringing all the American "dude food" they create at Crown to Festivals, Markets, Beaches etc, you can also book them for private or corporate functions! Awesome!

Ingredients
200G Dark Chocolate
25G unsalted butter
120G raw caster sugar
2 eggs
1/4 tsp baking powder
35G Plain flour

Method

Oven at 180C. Melt chocolate & butter together. I use a pyrex jug in the microwave.

Beat eggs & sugar until thick and pale.

Pour chocolate into egg mixture and add flour and baking powder, stir gently, don't overmix.

Scoop big tablespoons full onto baking paper. Mixture will be very wet like cake batter, but its all good! Just leave enough space for spreading.

Cook for 10-15 mins.

These taste like a brownie!

makes about 12.
